Some of our upright freezers have a very tight seal, which keeps the cold air in and reduces energy consumption. The trick to opening the door is to pull the handle to full resistance and hold there for 3 seconds, the seal will then release on its own. If this doesn't happen, you can also try to pop a finger in between the seal to help it release.
The seal will be strongest when you have just closed the freezer and try to go re-open it immediately. You may need to wait a touch longer before going attempting to re-open the freezer. You may also hear a knocking or sucking noise and this is normal for the unit as it is sealing back up.
